His Therapy is here to help and will walk beside you to resolve this embarrassing problem your child may experience.  His Therapy creates a fun, motivating, and exciting treatment plan that educates, councils, encourages, and offers biofeedback.  Biofeedback traces the contraction and relaxation of the muscles that surround the pelvic floor using electromyography (EMG). Pelvic Floor Therapy For Men

Pelvic Floor Therapy Is For Men Too!

Pelvic floor physical therapy was, historically, prescribed for women who, after a few pregnancies, tend to leak urine.

But men can leak, too, especially after surgery for prostate cancer. Men can also suffer from chronic pelvic pain. Physical therapy specific to the pelvic floor muscles can provide relief.

Two of the main symptoms that men would seek out pelvic floor physical therapy are incontinence (inability to control urination) and pelvic pain.

Incontinence typically stems from problems with a man’s prostate gland. If he has an enlarged prostate (common condition as men age) the prostate can pinch the urethra. Then the bladder has to work harder to push urine out when it needs to empty, the bladder muscles thicken and become overactive. The result: leaking urine.

Men who have had surgery for prostate cancer will most likely have incontinence, at least temporarily, after their surgery.  Men who receive radiation therapy for prostate cancer may also experience incontinence.

Chronic, ongoing pelvic pain can come from the bladder, rectum or prostate. Pain tends to make muscles tighten up, like a constant cramp, and this becomes an uncomfortable cycle: pain leads to muscle tension, which causes more pain.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms or have questions, please contact our office for more information and/or  to schedule your pelvic floor assessment today!

Have a blessed day

Develop Your Gift

….daily devotional by Joyce Meyer
We can’t wait to share with you where God is leading His Therapy.
Stay tuned for our new beginnings Dec. 1st!

If we don’t develop our potential it won’t get developed, because no one else can do it for us.  Find out what you want to do and begin to train yourself for it.  If you know you can write great songs, develop your gift; arrange your life so you can write songs.  If you know you can lead worship, then practice, learn music, sing with all your mind and heart, and believe.  Begin leading worship, even if you start with only you and the cat or you and your children.  If you know you have a talent for business, an ability to make money, then study, pray, go to school and STEP OUT!

Whatever your gift and calling, entrust it to the Lord and be relentless in pursuit of reaching your full potential.  In some way we should improve ourselves every day.  We should go forward, letting go of what lies behind, including past mistakes and past victories.  Even hanging on to the glory of past victories can prevent us from being all God wants us to be in the future.  Never be satisfied with being anything less than all you can be.

Prayer:  Lord I recognize that I am responsible to develop and use the talents You have
placed within me.  Give me wisdom on the best way to go about it.  Amen!

Dry Needling – What is it?

Dry needling is a treatment that involves a very thin needle being pushed through the skin to stimulate a trigger point. Dry needling releases the tight muscle bands associated with trigger points and leads to decreased pain, improved function, and speeds up the recovery process.

Trigger points are irritable, hard “knots” within a muscle that may cause pain over a large area, leading to difficulty performing everyday tasks. When a person has painful muscles and trigger points, it is sometimes called myofascial pain syndrome.

Myofacial Trigger points are a common type of pain. The word myofascial means muscle tissue and the connective tissue in and around it. These trigger points are usually the result of a muscle injury, resulting from repetitive strain. They are painful when pressed on and can create pain in another area as well, which is called referred pain.

Dry Needling is becoming a popular modality in medical practices, as musculoskeletal complaints are one of the most reported reasons to seek medical attention. Because contractures and trigger points are invisible to X-rays, MRI, CT’s, a Dry Needling Therapist can “feel” with the needle and utilize it as a diagnostic instrument. Contractures deep in the muscles can be felt with the needle via feedback on the quality of the tissues that it is penetrating.

Urinary Incontinence

What is incontinence?
Incontinence occurs when it is hard to control the release of urine. Urine may leak from the bladder because of the urinary system not performing properly.

Kinds of incontinence
Stress incontinence
Actions like coughing, sneezing, or lifting objects puts pressure on the bladder and can cause urine leakage.
Urge incontinence
This can occur even when the bladder has only a little urine, but the brain tells the body it is time to urinate. The bladder then contracts causing urine to leak.
Overflow incontinence
Nerve damage can cause this because the body does no receive a signal to urinate. Therefore, the bladder stays full and muscles can weaken over time and lead to leakage.

Don’t suffer with urinary incontinence! Come in to His Therapy today.
